Heating System, Naas

Here the client's aim was to increase their BER rating. This was done in many ways throughout the house. However, I will talk about the effect on the BER and benefits from points in this image.

The two main trades here were plumbing and electrical. In terms of plumbing, firstly and most obviously, the cylinder has been changed to an insulated cylinder. The pipes to the radiators have been kept separate or 'zoned'. Also the system has been changed from an open vented system to a sealed system, increasing its general efficiency and longevity. Electrically, there is a cylinder stat and room stats to cut out the boiler when there is no call for heat even if the boiler is timed to be on. The yellow box in the centre of the image is a motorised valve. It allows that at the touch of a switch (or timer) the radiators or water can come on independently.

Despite fitting an immersion and timer, the electrical immersion is never used in this house as the central heating setup is so effective and cheaper to run.
